Coffee Break
It was a quiet morning at the Starbucks coffee house. The only problem was that it was in Saudi Arabia.
Yara (surname not disclosed) an American national, was having a cup of coffee with a male colleague in the capital, Riyadh.
The next non-customers to enter the door were officers of the 'Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice'.
The alleged suspect claims that after her arrest, she was strip-searched. (The 'Commission' has issued a public statement saying that the person in question was never strip-searched). (A rare denial for Saudi religious police).
Bleak reports indicate that American consular officials did not help her so much in her time of need this month.
Nevertheless, the incident has further strained relations between the United States and Saudi Arabia.
Lesson: Don't be a Stabucks mom and drink coffee with a gentleman in Riyadh.
